Bio: Quinn MacLeod

Quinn MacLeod - Integrated Fire Solutions

Quinn MacLeod brings over 30 years of high risk experiences to support his presentations. Those experiences include mountaineering in and out of the country, structural and wildland firefighting, motorcycle and bicycle racing as well as third world travel. All provide excellent exploitation of the human element as it relates to life’s risks.

Quinn began his fire service career in 1985, which includes 20 years as a career Engineer and Acting Company Officer in the south metro area of Denver Colorado. In addition he was able to gain large wildfire experience from incidents across the country, working his way up through the NWCG qualification ranks to Division / Group Supervisor. He holds an Associate’s Degree in Fire Science, Fire Officer, Fire Instructor, and numerous other state and national certifications in structural and wildland fire operations.

Off the job his passion for high adventure has taken him many places throughout the world. He has climbed big mountains in Alaska, Canada and South America. And scaled the sheer rock faces of El Capitan in Yosemite and the sandstone towers of Utah’s desert. Remote sea kayaking trips, adventure travel with his wife and countless solo escapades have added many human factor experiences which Quinn shares in his presentations.

Quinn also served as the Pueblo Zone Interagency Training Representative for four years, which included a position on the Rocky Mountain Region’s training working group. During his tenure he was an active member striving to improve interagency training both within the zone and nationally.

Quinn has authored published articles for structural and wildfire publications. He has presented conference sessions of the workshops at the Firehouse World Expo in San Diego among other venues.

Post career fire service has Quinn developing and instructing fire training’s centered around managing risk and the study of human factors. He also instructs fire leadership courses for Mission Centered Solutions as a part of a three person cadre on a national and international level. During wildfire season you will find him working as a Division Supervisor on fires across the country. The Division Supervisor role enables him to manage risk, hone his leadership skills, and observe first-hand human factors on the fireground.

The future has Quinn continuing to balance life’s demands. Professional development is on-going and includes training up to meet the challenges of fire and all-hazard Operations Chief assignments. The mental and physical preparation he uses for his professional career spills over into the execution of his personal adventures. There will never be a shortage of new experiences.

He enjoys spending time with his wife travelling and at home. They continue to reside in Boulder Colorado along with their two dogs.
