Fire Service Training Workshops
"Managing Fireground Risk" is a Fire Department workshop training which utilizes the latest human factors findings to enhance decision making, error management, and communications on the fire ground. Individual, group, open forum discussions and exercises reinforce the subject matter. The proven Risk Management process adopted from the wildland firefighting discipline is then broken down into an easily understood format to create fast and workable tools to assist the structural fire fighter with managing risk. Communication among company members is enhanced throughout the workshop by engaging them in a number of case studies, crew briefing format, and culminates with risk management exercises to reinforce the practices. Leadership and followership skills are stressed through out which makes this workshop an excellent venue or firefighter, company officer, and chief officer development.
Why Quinn & IFS?
"We are always looking for additional training for our new company officers
dealing with risk management decision making. Risk Management at the Company Level
was just the workshop. Quinn uses his structure and wildland firefighting experience
to support his teaching in this class. This is good training not only for the new
company officer but also the seasoned fire officer."
— Tim McElwee, Division Chief, Prescott Fire Department, Prescott Arizona
"Structural Firefighter Safety in the Urban Interface" is a Fire Department workshop training designed to enhance wildland fire behavior predictions, coupled with decision making and communication skills to improve firefighter safety on the urban interface fire ground. Three dimensional and topographical maps are utilized to show predicted fire movement and more importantly predicted extreme fire behavior. Extreme fire behavior in its most basic form is represented by the alignment of slope, aspect, and wind direction (Campbell Prediction System). The prediction helps to highlight where is safe to operate and where is not. Trigger points, disengagement procedures, escape route viability, and safety zone size determination are also discussed in detail.
Note on instructor fees: "Due to the current state of the
economy my fee quoted is negotiable (see workshop information, details). Having
personally rolled thru years of fire department budgetary constraints I fully
understand your situation. A popular option is to reserve half the seats for
your agency and then open up the other half to your auto/mutual aid partners to
recover costs. My goal is to improve firefighter safety, these workshops are
field tested and the practices work!" — Quinn MacLeod
"These workshops qualify for DHS grant funding, in addition they address many NFPA standards."

NEW! Conference Sessions: These 2 hour sessions can also be used to augment your established Fire Officer / Firefighter training curriculums, call for details!
"Both workshops offered by "Integrated Fire Solutions" are excellent. Quinn
brings his education, training and years of experience to make these workshops a
life changing experience for each participant. All of our firefighters have benefited
from his presentations, taking both workshops in 2008. I believe as a chief officer
that our command staff and firefighters are better prepared today to address the
complex issues of fire risk management and structural firefighter safety in the
urban interface."."
— Steve Charles, Fire Chief, Berthoud Fire Protection District, Berthoud, Colorado
"If the assignment cannot be carried out safely and safety concerns cannot be mitigated, tactics must be adjusted."
